Bob Mercier
I was just trying to notify your group that Bob passed away on the 16th, the funeral is tomorrow. (Sat. 20th) I'll always remember the year he was emcee for the all schools reunion at the Cornhusker, wish I could remember which year that was. Bob was in the class of '49, and originally thought he was going to be emcee for his class reunion, and here it was for all three University associated high schools - it was wonderful to be there.
Bob is in the arms of his dear Lord and we are happy for him, but we are surely sad for ourselves. TCHS was important to him, playing basketball, the great friends, etc.

This is Nebraska. . .
Bill Johnson('50), who has an amazing recall, recorded this at the 2005 reunion. Just talked to Stan Matzke, Jr., and got news that Bill was involved in a tractor accident this fall, was airlifted to Lincoln, and had a leg amputated below the knee. He is recovering, and his memories are still as vivid as ever, according to Stan. (January 5,2008)
Bill remembers his basket ball playing under C.Dale Snook

The Charter hangs in the main hall of the School of Music outside of 107 WMB. I don't know much about the "Music Charter."
Perhaps Don Johnson w ould recognize some of the names if he saw it. They are quite faded and are not really visible on the picture.
I'm happy to share this photograph with you and other TCHS alums.

Does High School Still Matter?
Saturday, 11 October 2008 21:28

Forty three years after graduation from University High, I keep wondering, "do those high school years still matter?"
I rarely run into classmates. I rarely think about those high school years. But something still keeps tugging at me to "stay in touch".
You think about it, those 3 years I spent there, aren't that long, compared to the rest of my life. College took me 4 and a half years, and I don't have any connection to my Journalism classmates. Once in a rare while someone stops back in Lincoln, visiting family and manages to find me at home in my studio in the Haymarket, but this is rare.
So, what keeps me so "connected" to that small high school that closed two years after I graduated? Good question. Do any of you have an answer?
